Our contribution
towards a sustainable future
Environmental protection is a global challenge of our time that is why we are proud of the fact that we consistently strive to reduce environmental burden throughout our activities.
In 2018, we installed our first 50 kW PV installation at our factory, thanks to which we produced almost 100,000 kWh of green energy by the end of 2021 and in totality reduced CO2 emissions by over 80 tons.
We plan to expand the installation to 400kW in 2022.
Optimizing production processes, replacing old lighting systems with energy-saving ones and installing energy parameter monitoring systems are some other elements of our fight against environmental pollution.
Worth mentioning are also large ecological investments implemented only in 2021 in Lumel Alucast:
- usage of heat recovery technology by connecting compressors to the boiler room installation, which resulted in a significant reduction in gas consumption
- installation of filters systems on four casting machines, which not only reduces the emission of pollution into atmosphere, but also significantly improves working conditions.
On a daily basis, we take care of the environment by conducting rational waste management and segregation, recycling and optimizing the life cycle of products.
What is ahead of us?
In addition to the new PV installation we plan to replace:
- the old line washing lines of alloys with a new one with closed water circulation and automatic dosing
- the process of conventional high power consuming drying of details with a modern vacuum drying system
- the coolant used in machining processes with more ecological and advanced ones.
The fight for a clean environment for us and for future generations is an absolute priority for Lumel.
